The morning after my exciting night watching Italy vs. Spain at San Siro Stadium, I awoke early, wanting to visit my favorite spots when I am in Milan. I checked out of my regular hotel and headed down the street to my favorite place for a leisurely start to my day. After ordering my tea at the counter, I settled into a seat in the window, my “Museum of Life” for the next hour.

My view afforded me some excellent views of a typical morning in Milan. Trams passed by carrying workers to their jobs. A homeless man wandered unsteadily down the street, clutching a box of wine. Two nuns, walked arm in arm down the street, the younger one supporting the senior.
As the time came to move on, I paid my check and headed to my next stop. Recently I discovered a caffè just down the street, run by a couple that is simply delightful to watch. They seem to truly enjoy their clients, with regulars popping in and out to have a quick espresso and a chat. I love to just sit and watch the activity.
My time was running out so I had to fit in one last stop: the magnificent Gothic masterpiece which is the Duomo of Milan. One of my favorite things to do is grab a table at the overpriced Bar Duomo, a caffè in the corner of the piazza with the perfect view of the church. One of the most magnificent sunsets you will ever see, is here on the square. As the sun sets, the cool white Duomo is warmed with golden hues. It’s simply magical. While I had missed the show this trip, I still love looking at this marvel and reflecting on those moments.
